Fethiye Parachute | Biivip

Paragliding sport is taking off by running from a high hill instead of an airplane with a parachute that looks like a free jump parachute at first glance. The duration of the flights can last for kilometers / hours depending on the performance of the material used and the experience of the pilot. It can be a single person as well as double (tandem) wings.

Paragliding, the first attempt of which dates back to the 1940s, has undergone many changes until today, and has made structural improvements that increase flight time and safety. The first paraglider was similar to a free-jump parachute.

Since the 1980s, the paragliding wing structure has reached its optimum shape for easy take-off, good gliding performance and slow collapse rate. Paragliding Sport in our country was recognized with the discovery of Baba Mountain in Fethiye Ölüdeniz region by foreign pilots in the early 1990s, and it first started actively in university clubs.

Being the most economical aircraft known and being intertwined with nature sports, it has made it loved by a wide audience today. Paragliding, which basically does not require a special talent and excessive effort, is very easy and enjoyable to do after a standard training.

Oludeniz - Babadag

Location: Badadağ, located within the borders of Fethiye district of Muğla province, is 7 km inland from the seaside. It rises just behind Ölüdeniz beach and faces south. The take-off runway can be reached from Ölüdeniz by a 45-minute stabilized but smooth road.

Flight Season: Safe flights are made between April and October.

Regional Characteristics: Oludeniz, the place where paragliding was first made in Turkey, has become world famous. The region, which fascinates thousands of local and foreign tourists every year with its unique nature, sun and sea, is suitable for all kinds of outdoor activities. In the region, which is a developed touristic center, there is no problem of transportation, accommodation, eating and drinking. Boat tours in the surrounding area also attract attention. Babadağ is preferred as a summer and winter trekking and camping area.

Take-off Runways: There are three runways in Babadağ. The 1700 meters south runway is very suitable for take off. The 1800 meter north track is a bit small and steep. The take-off area of the 1900 meters north summit runway is quite comfortable. In general, the 1700-meter runway is usually flown from here, as it receives the south wind for most of the day. Around 20 wings can be laid at the same time on the very wide runway. Landing Runway: Belcekiz beach, on the shore of Oludeniz, is a very comfortable and safe landing area with its long and wide width.

Meteorological Characteristics: The weather is consistent throughout the summer season. Sometimes the north wind blows in the morning hours and departures are made from the northern runways into the valley. The south runway meets the wind blowing from the south between 5-20 km for most of the day.

Things to be aware of: Especially in the season change months, which are the beginning and end of the season, rapid changes can occur in the air and clouds can descend on the take-off area. On the south runway, the westerly wind from the west end of the mountain can mislead, creating a false south wind until noon.
